BGC ALASKA PRECOMP SOCCER TRAINING

Though competition is naturally inherent in any type of athletics endeavor, the generally accepted definition between Recreational and Competitive Soccer includes the type of coach (volunteer vs licensed), training environment (including session duration, frequency, and activities) training calendar/cycle, and travel distance necessary to find appropriate quality of match play. To clarify further, Competitive teams are composed of players who not only have natural athletic ability, but are committed to training to acquire necessary skills to be successful on the pitch, and are committed to traveling distances appropriate for age division and level of development.

With that, beginning in Fall 2017, Boys & Girls Clubs - Alaska will begin offering a Competitive branch to its Soccer program. To participate on a BGC Alaska Competitive Soccer team, eligible players will be invited after Competitive Evaluations (Tryouts) in August 2017. (Players not selected for a BGC Alaska Competitive Soccer team will be advised on an appropriate alternative suitable for his/her level of development at that time in addition to a specific plan for improvement).

To begin preparing interested U8-U11 players (born in the years 2009-2006) who show a technical aptitude, competitive spirit, and willingness to commit to playing at the next level, Boys & Girls Clubs - Alaska Athletics will be offering BGC Alaska PreComp Soccer Training during the 2017 BGCA Soccer Season.

BGC Alaska PreComp Soccer Training aims to further long-term player development by fast-tracking players into a higher-level, competitive soccer environment coached by some of Alaska's premier, professional-level soccer coaches. The program is designed to develop the individual player's technical skills, expand his/her decision-making abilities, teach various systems of play and positional roles, and build a solid foundation for the future with an emphasis on age-appropriate player and team development in a safe, positive training environment.

Players will also have the opportunity to show off the skills learned and their understanding of game awareness during league play with their teams over the duration of the 2017 BGCA Soccer Season in addition to preparing for BGC Alaska Competitive Evaluations (Tryouts) in August.
