KARATE & AIKIDO

ABOUT KARATE & AKIDO

Boys & Girls Clubs - Alaska has partnered with Nihon Bugei Shinkokan to provide its members a safe, healthy, fun, and meaningful experience through regularly scheduled classes on Wednesday evenings. The nine-week Fall Session will commence on October 2 and conclude December 11, 2019 (with a break for November 27 in observance of Thanksgiving).  The nine-week Winter Session will commence on January 8 and conclude March 4. The eight-week Spring Session will commence on March 25 and conclude May 13, 2020.  Each session will conclude with a test for students who are considered ready for advancement.

The movements in Karatedo and Aikido develop coordination and timing while increasing strength and flexibility.  The philosophy of Nihon Bugei Shinkokan is to teach student martial art values, as well as respect for themselves and others, through Karate training, goal setting, and goal achievement.  Both children and adults gain self-confidence from learning these skills.

Our Karatedo, Aikido, and Kobudo training is a Japanese martial and cultural arts program dedicated to helping individuals to develop more self-discipline, self-confidence and self-esteem.  Students learn about Japanese culture, physical fitness, self-defense and discipline through training in an integrated combination of martial arts: Karate, Aikido and Kobudo.  By consistently training, students learn to be adaptable and confident in their ability to handle stressful situations.  Our expectation is that the student will grow to be an individual who demonstrates the five core values of our school: Character, Sincerity, Effort, Etiquette and Self Control
